Frank Moses (Bruce Willis), retired Black operation Central Intelligence Agency agent, lives alone in Cleveland, Ohio. Lonely, Frank creates opportunities to talk to Sarah Ross (Mary-Louise Parker), a worker at the General Services Administration's pension office in Kansas City, Missouri, by tearing up his pension checks and calling to say they haven't arrived.
